The Australian Nanny Association’s Members Only Facebook Group Intent
CODE OF CONDUCT
Our intent is to grow our members’ understanding of social media and to make connecting with the Australian Nanny Association and its members more convenient. We wish our content to be more accessible and to also tap into the knowledge and support base of our members. The Australian Nanny Association’s Members only Facebook Group allows our active members to keep up to date with activities through a medium preferred by many. The group will allow us to seek your input on issues and to also make us aware of areas where we can improve. But overwhelmingly, our Facebook group is a place where our members can build the in-home childcare industry by building in-home childcare spirit. We ask that our members accentuate the positives and bring to everyone’s attention the little things that make the in-home childcare industry great.
Using Real Names
All users interacting in the Australian Nanny Association’s Members Only Facebook group, by either liking or commenting on posts must do so using a Facebook account that clearly identifies them by their real name.
Raising Issues and not Including Names
The Australian Nanny Association is happy to be alerted to issues via its Facebook group but does wish to remind members that some things are best dealt with privately. The kind of issues that can be raised should be centered around in-home childcare situations, generally on support or advice. Issues involving any committee member or other member (nanny, agency, parent etc.) must not be raised in the Facebook page. When issues are raised we are happy to see people support the issue via a Facebook comment or a ‘like’. We will not however, support interactions that incite or fuel overly negative sentiments. We also ask that you do not use the names of any adult, child or agency in any issue-based posting.
 Membership
The ANA Facebook group is not deemed as part of your ANA membership. It is a tool offered to assist members in networking and socialising. The ANA Committee reserves the right to remove any person or business from the closed Facebook ANA group at any time.
When Can I use Names in Posts?
You can use names in posts when you wish to acknowledge someone’s great work within the in-home childcare industry. We wish our Facebook group to be used to build in-home childcare spirit; patting someone on the back publicly goes a long way towards building the industry we all want.
How to Interact with the Facebook Page
Initially, members will be able to comment on the Association’s posts and on posts and comments by other members. Members will also be able to ‘like’ a post or comment by clicking on the like button. Members will be able to author a posting of their own and load industry relevant media such as video or photos. User rights will be reviewed over time and assessments made on liberating access. It is forbidden however for members to upload photos of children whether in their direct care or not, onto the page. Only parents or legal guardians who have authority to post photos of their children are able to do so. Nannies are not, even with their employer’s permission, allowed to upload any photos of children.
Promotional Posts and Advertising
The member’s only Facebook page is not to be used by any member as a way to advertise services. It is forbidden for any nanny, parent or agency to post a job, advertise a position and/or to promote their agency and/or themselves outside of the ANA promotional days that are listed throughout the year. Any such posts will be removed and reported.
There are specific days such as AGENCY member JOB DAY which is where Agency members can post their jobs as long as they follow the criterion listed on the day.
There may also be other days or posts throughout the year where Nanny, Family and Agency members can participate to promote themselves or their business. Members of the closed ANA Facebook group must follow the criterion outlined when participating in these promotional days.
