Literacy for Littlies: Sharing Books with Children
Penny and Shelly will talk about the importance and benefits of picture books for young children, including cognitive, social/emotional and language development. They will talk about how to foster a love of reading from the youngest age and how to develop literacy skills in babies, toddlers and preschoolers.
They will teach what to look for when choosing books to share with children and provide a list of recommended books, both classic and recently published. They will share how they each became authors and what inspired the picture books they have written.
They will give additional ideas for ways to engage children in books, giving practical ideas for games, outings and other activities.
